With the constant development and limitless enhancement, women are creating opportunities, initiatives and being unlimited, with hard work & great passion. As you continue to read the below, you will witness the real empowerment, a woman the CMMC is proud to have and a great example of how women strive to make this world a better place as nothing is impossible. Fatiha Enbarka is an A student studying in the college of Media and Mass Communication, who is a mother of three children, a housewife, a volunteering teacher in the Haya Islamic Centre. Therefore, is considered as one of the best tutors teaching world history and middle east history in the American University in the Emirates. Not only that, she is also a member of the acting and performance club. Fatiha speaks fluent English, Arabic and French.

Furthermore, Fatiha’s contributions had been increasing since she joined the University even with her busy life which is full of responsibility. Nonetheless, as she is also in charge of the honor society, Fatiha is establishing a chapter of CMMC to be part of the Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) which is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four – year colleges and universities that is already active in more than 500 universities and colleges. LPH became a part of the National Communication Association in 1988, and the association’s official honor society in July 1995. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). Starting with that, Fatiha will be organizing a ceremony in the Spring semester 2020, to begin this journey in the college of CMMC, to encourage students to join the LPH and in order to achieve more in the CMMC college. LPH represents what Aristotle described in Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logic; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), defined as character credibility and ethics.

The Six Goals of Lambda Pi Eta: –

1. Recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in Communication Studies

2. Stimulate interest in the field of Communication

3. Promote and encourage professional development among Communication majors

4. Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of Communication

5. Establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students

6. Explore options for graduate education in Communication Studies

The Lambda Pi Eta will add high value to the college of Media and Mass Communication and strengthen it, while also, motivate the students to achieve more and help them reach the highest levels of success. We are very excited to see improvements and development in the college of CMMC, especially when the changes are made by student’s hard work.

IMW celebrates International Women’s Day

By: Amira Al Nahdi

The AUE International Majlis of Women celebrates the International Women’s day. In March 8 of each year, the world celebrates the women’s day, which is considered as an appreciation of the active role of women in various fields and their clear imprint in society. This day is also an occasion to focus on the gains of women, give them their full rights and protect them from any kind of social injustice.

The AUE International Majlis (IMW ) is the first platform for young women at AUE, that has been participating in variety of activities, awareness and influential events, like Breast Cancer Awareness  in support of breast cancer awareness month, in city walk in October,21,2019 that was organized by Saeed Hamdan with the participations of popular and famous people like the Emirati singer Salama Hamdan.

The celebration of International Women’s Day came after the holding of the first conference of the International Women’s Democratic Union in Paris in 1945 and was the first global celebration of International Women’s Day, although some researchers believe that International Women’s Day was due to some women’s strikes that occurred in the United States.

The year 1945 witnessed, precisely, the first congress of the International Women’s Union in Paris to celebrate International Women’s Day. Although some researchers in the United States are likely to believe that International Women’s Day was the result of some women’s strikes that occurred in the United States in 1856, when thousands of women took to the streets of New York protesting the conditions and suffering they experienced. On the date of March 8, 1908, thousands of women working on the New York street went out to demonstrate and reduce their working hours, giving women the right to participate.

And with that, the United Nations Charter was issued in 1945, making it the first international agreement that stresses the importance of equality between women and men. And affirming the principle of the right of women to obtain their rights and protect them from social injustice.

Philosophical psychology in a seminar at CMMC

November 18, 2019

The College of Media and Mass Communication (CMMC) organised a seminar as part of an introductory course in philosophy, which is taught by Associate Professor Dr. Ahmed Khamis Al-Janabi. The seminar presented by psychologist and sociologist from the Ministry of Health in Dubai, Mr. Wael Kamel was entitled “Philosophical Psychology.” In this lecture, Mr. Wael spoke to students about the relationship between psychology and philosophy. This participation is evident by both trying to answer the question of “who am I?” In terms of philosophy and psychology, man cannot be separated from his environment and his thoughts and behaviours cannot be understood away from his social milieu.
